Yandex says one of its largest data centres was attacked; Ukraine reports strike on Salavat refinery
Russian tech company Yandex said on 8 October that one of its five largest data centres, in Ryazan region, had been attacked, while Ukraine's military said it hit the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat refinery in Bashkortostan.
Russia’s largest technology company, Yandex, said on 8 October that one of its five largest data centres, in Ryazan region, had been attacked and that it was working to restore affected services, RFE/RL reported. The site hosts tens of thousands of servers.
Separately, Ukraine’s military said its forces struck the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refinery and petrochemical complex in Bashkortostan, causing a fire. Russia’s Defence Ministry said its air defences had downed 399 Ukrainian drones overnight.
Since this year Kyiv has increasingly answered Russian bombardment of its cities with long-range strikes on military and energy targets inside Russia, RFE/RL noted.
