GSK beats third-quarter estimates on new medicines, keeps 2026 outlook

British drugmaker GSK reported quarterly revenue up 5% at constant currency to £8.89 billion and core earnings of 54.6 pence per share, both above forecasts, and kept its annual targets.

GSK beat third-quarter sales and profit expectations on Wednesday, helped by demand for new and specialty medicines, Reuters reports. It is the latest test for chief executive Luke Miels, who took over at the start of 2026 and is steering the company through a major overhaul ahead of looming patent expiries.

The numbers

  • Revenue rose 5% at constant exchange rates to £8.89 billion, versus £8.84 billion expected.
  • Core earnings were 54.6 pence per share, against a company-compiled consensus of 50.4 pence.
  • GSK took a £328 million charge linked to its cost-savings drive.

Outlook unchanged

The company still expects 2026 turnover growth in the upper half of its 3%-5% range and core EPS growth in the lower half of its 7%-9% range, and kept its long-term targets. It said research and development spending is expected to grow faster than sales.

“GSK has delivered another strong quarter,” Miels said in a statement.
