What happened
A court in Russia’s Khabarovsk Krai has sentenced a sports coach from Sovetskaya Gavan to 18 years in a strict-regime penal colony for the sexual abuse of children and the production of child sexual abuse material, Lenta.ru reports, citing the unified press service of the region’s courts. The sources do not name the convicted man.
According to the court, between 2023 and 2025 the man sexually abused six children aged 8 to 12, exploiting their helpless state. Among the victims was his own daughter. In 2025 he also committed lewd acts against three children under 12, and produced and distributed child sexual abuse material, including sending it to other minors online. He pleaded guilty (Lenta.ru).
Additional details
The Telegram channel Amur Mash, cited by KomsaNews and Life.ru, says the convict was a karate coach and that the victims were six girls aged 8–12, including his students. According to the channel, the court also barred him from working with children for 10 years after his release. He was detained in spring 2025 together with a colleague — another coach from the same city who was earlier sentenced to 19 years in a separate case.
Sardaana News editorial position
An adult who uses a coach’s authority and parents’ trust to abuse children is a predator. Eighteen years in a strict-regime colony and a ban on working with children are the minimum answer the state owes the survivors.
When the coach’s own child is among the victims, the betrayal is total: a betrayal of his own family and of every family that trusted the sports section with their child.
Children’s sports and schools must never become hunting grounds. Parents, clubs and officials who look away clear the path for the next crime.
Making abuse material involving children and sending it to other minors multiplies the harm many times over. That, too, must be punished without any softness.
