Anthropic files for IPO: $16.3 billion in half-year revenue, ticker "ANT" on Nasdaq

Anthropic has publicly filed its S-1 with the US SEC. The filing shows first-half 2026 revenue of about $16.3 billion and a net loss of $80.7 billion, mostly from non-cash accounting charges; share count and price are not yet set.

Anthropic, PBC, the maker of Claude, publicly filed a Form S-1 registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on 26 October 2026 for a proposed initial public offering of its Class A shares.

The basics

  • The company plans to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol “ANT”. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are named for the prospectus.
  • The number of shares, the price range and therefore the valuation are not yet determined.

What the numbers show

According to the filing, as reported by TechCrunch and Reuters:

  • Revenue for the first half of 2026 was about $16.3 billion, up from about $1.2 billion a year earlier. Full-year 2025 revenue was about $4.6 billion.
  • The operating loss narrowed to $693 million, from about $2.1 billion in the first half of 2025.
  • The net loss reached $80.7 billion, driven largely by non-cash fair-value adjustments on convertible debt.
  • The company warns that it “may not achieve or sustain profitability in the future”.

Unusual governance

Anthropic is a public benefit corporation. The S-1 describes several share classes: a Long-Term Benefit Trust holding Class T stock that elects a majority of the board, and a single Class F share held by a co-founders’ company that carries 50.1% of general voting power but no economic rights.

Why it matters

This would be one of the largest technology listings ever and the first public test of how investors value a frontier AI lab, whose growth is fast but whose costs are huge. Until the registration becomes effective, no shares can be sold.
