Dior’s Jonathan Anderson shows sheer fabrics and metallic trousers for SS27
One year after his womenswear debut at Dior, Jonathan Anderson presented spring/summer 2027 with sheer pleated looks, metallic snakeskin-effect trousers and fluid tailoring on a Tuileries catwalk, Reuters reported on 29 September. LVMH has said the house is gaining momentum after two years of declining sales.
Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson showed metallic trousers, structured jackets and sheer feathered skirts in Paris on Tuesday, one year on from his womenswear debut at the LVMH-owned house, Reuters reported.
Sheer, metal and soft tailoring
Models marched along a white catwalk built over the Tuileries gardens’ octagonal basin before guests including Rosalía, Anya Taylor-Joy and Jennifer Lawrence. Sheer fabrics ran through the collection — folded and pleated into structured skirts or tied into bows with long tails cascading from fitted tops. Metallic snakeskin-effect trousers in silver and green were paired with roomy double-breasted blazers; other looks leaned romantic with feathered textures and lace panels. Stripes and checks clashed on shirts and trousers; impressionist florals appeared on dresses; sober gray, beige, black and white were punctuated by butter yellow, pastel pink and powder blue.
Anderson cited Chinese wenwan walnuts — sent to guests with invitations — and their natural asymmetries as an inspiration in a post-show press release. He has been credited with injecting a contemporary edge into Dior since taking womenswear and menswear last year after two years of declining sales; LVMH does not break out Dior figures but said in July the brand was gaining momentum.
