Miu Miu SS27: Miuccia Prada sets out “to bring elegance to sports”
At Paris Fashion Week on 4 October, Miu Miu's spring/summer 2027 show “Here and Now” paired lace-front Wrangler jeans, New Balance sneakers and retro athleticwear with kilts, crystal sports bras and crinkled silks, with Olivia Colman and Gigi Hadid among the walkers, WWD, W and BoF reported.
Miuccia Prada turned everyday sportswear into the subject of Miu Miu’s spring/summer 2027 collection, shown in Paris on Sunday, 4 October, according to reviews in WWD, W Magazine and The Business of Fashion.
Gym kit, dressed up
The Palais d’Iéna venue was bathed in royal purple, with chocolate-brown seats arranged as makeshift bleachers, W reported. On the runway: upcycled Wrangler jeans laced at the fly, colourful New Balance sneakers, retro-tinged track tops, micro-shorts, kilts and checked skirts with boyish blazers — lifted with crystal-covered sports bras, crinkled silks and deliberately cracked suede. Asked to sum it up, Prada told WWD she simply wanted “to bring elegance to sports.” The show notes spoke of a “process of heightening, elevation, improvement,” W noted.
A mixed cast
Actors Olivia Colman, Emma Corrin, Katherine Waterston and Louisa Jacobson walked alongside Gigi Hadid, Jamie Bell, Noah Jupe and Igby Rigney. Prada said the house tries to include “young, new faces and some older women, some men, some different characters.” BoF’s reviewer saw the bare midriffs and short hemlines as a nod to the Spring 2022 season that launched Miu Miu’s recent run of success.
