Sacai SS27: Chitose Abe's 'A Moment of Becoming' shows the good and bad sides of human nature

Japanese designer Chitose Abe showed Sacai’s spring-summer 2027 collection at Paris Fashion Week, WWD reported on 5 October. Backstage she said she had been thinking about expressing “both the good and bad parts” inside people.

Utility meets delicacy

True to the label’s signature, hard-wearing denim and suiting were combined with chiffons and satins. Pompons sat where military epaulettes might be, and cropped trousers were edged with ruffles. Prints of fur and of trays of loose sequins and rhinestones played on the idea that a person’s good sides can also be a little bad.

Showing the construction

Tops carried the words “A Moment of Becoming” and a collegiate-style crest. The theme also showed in the making: a parka with two layers imitating how a lining is attached, a jacket whose sheer outer shell revealed its inner elements, and loose adornments turned into decorative trims and panels. Simpler pieces included a high-collared “lampshade” jacket and a tightly pleated midi pencil skirt with a kicky hem.
