Fendi is bringing back the Croissant, an archival handbag from Maria Grazia Chiuri’s early years at the Roman house, starting in Los Angeles, WWD reported on Friday, 16 October.
The launch
- The bag went on sale exclusively at Fendi’s Rodeo Drive boutique on Thursday, 15 October, with an online prelaunch on Friday before becoming widely available on 22 October.
- The reissue has updated, larger proportions. “At the beginning, it was very small, like the size of a croissant,” Chiuri told WWD, adding that the new size is more practical for life today.
Chiuri’s return
- The visit is Chiuri’s first official trip to the United States since she returned to Fendi as chief creative officer, an appointment revealed a little over a year ago.
- She first joined Fendi in 1989, more than three decades before her return. She now oversees womenswear, menswear, accessories and couture at the LVMH-owned house, which celebrated its centenary in 2025; Silvia Venturini Fendi has become honorary president.
