The Outnet bets on AI "digital twins" from Catches to cut fashion returns

Luxury off-price retailer The Outnet is launching PredictiveFit, a virtual fitting tool from Catches that simulates how clothes fit and move on a shopper's body. It is the first time Catches has worked with a multi-brand retailer.

Luxury off-price retailer The Outnet is rolling out PredictiveFit, a virtual fitting technology from fashion-tech company Catches, WWD reported on Wednesday, 21 October. It is the first time Catches has offered its tool to a multi-brand retailer, after a six-month partnership with luxury label Amiri.

How it works

Catches combines physics-based simulation with AI to build a digital twin of the shopper and show how a garment fits, drapes and moves in different sizes, rather than generating a static AI image. Its first product, RealFit, launched with Amiri in March, uses brand data such as patterns and fabric specifications. PredictiveFit instead turns product data that retailers already hold into simulation-ready garments, since multi-brand stores often lack manufacturers’ technical files. The system is built on Nvidia’s Omniverse and CUDA platforms.

The returns problem

“Our return rate is quite high, and the goal, of course, is to reduce it,” said Joseph Edery, founder and CEO of Icon Luxury Group, which acquired The Outnet in the first quarter of 2026. Because every brand fits differently, shoppers often order several sizes, raising costs for retailers and brands, he told WWD. According to WWD, the Amiri trial brought higher sales and fewer fit-related returns.

Catches is backed by $10 million from investors including Antoine Arnault and Natalia Vodianova, WWD said.
