Swedish label Our Legacy opens its biggest store yet — its first in China — in Shanghai
The cult Stockholm brand is opening a two-storey, 300-plus-square-metre shop in Shanghai's Former French Concession with local retailer Dongliang as operating partner. China already brings in about 13% of its revenue.
Swedish fashion label Our Legacy is opening its largest store to date this month in Shanghai — its first in China — Vogue Business reported on 11 October. “It’s really the next level for us,” chief executive Richardos Klarén said.
The store
- More than 300 square metres over two floors in a Spanish-style villa in the Former French Concession, joining five stores in London, Stockholm and Berlin.
- Interiors by co-founder and creative director Cristopher Nying reference Swedish public buildings, with ceramics and sculptures by American artist Kris Ruhs.
- Prices range from jeans and chinos at around €300 to leather jackets at €1,700. The shop also carries Work Shop, the brand’s line made from deadstock and leftover fabrics.
The partner
Multi-brand retailer Dongliang, founded in 2009 and running 15 stores in China, is the operating partner. Co-founder Charles Wang has named Beijing, Chengdu and Shenzhen as possible next locations. “China’s growing and we want to continue to open stores here,” Klarén said, “but not too fast.”
Why China
According to the brand, China accounts for about 13% of global revenue, which passed $50 million in 2025, and the business there has grown about 25% a year in recent years. Womenswear is 35% of China sales, well above the global average. Klarén said logo-light, long-lasting clothes are gaining ground while large luxury houses struggle in the market. Our Legacy, founded in 2005, received a minority investment from LVMH’s Luxury Ventures fund in 2024.
